Recycling

Why Compost?

60% of our waste can be composted, it's free and helps to protect and improve our soil.

When we recycle our organic waste to make compost, we help to return nutrients (or food) to the soil. This helps plants grow.

Our soils have been damaged through farming since the Second World War. Our food is less nutritious now due to our poorer soils.

We will need to stop putting organic waste like food, garden waste, paper and cardboard into landfill sites over the next few years or we will be fined by the Government.

To find out how to compost look at our leaflet (1.6Mb Zipped PDF)
