Community Groups

The second Recycling Bus may be able to help your community group with a recycling project. Whether you're starting a new recycling scheme, fundraising or want to get the recycling message across, the bus is an eye-catching centre piece in any location.

Here are some of the ways the recycling Bus has been used by community groups:

  • As a mobile display
  • To promote composting
  • As an area for training adults in recycling issues and activities
  • For the real nappy roadshow
  • As an information point at markets and fetes.

Events

The second Recycling Bus can provide a variety of fun activities at events which appeal to both children and adults:

  • Compost Games, Ely Apple Day

Find out about facilities on board and
    how to book the bus.
  • Choose 2 Reuse roadshow, Anglesey Abbey

  • Children's Festival, Jesus Green, Cambridge

  • Training for Adults

If you want to involve people in waste and recycling activities, the bus can be used to help train groups and individuals in how to engage others. Some of the training sessions that have taken place include:

    • A 'Recycling Heap Challenge'- scrap model making for KS2 pupils linked to the Science / Design Technology curriculum. Suitable for recycling officers and teachers.

    • Sessions on waste and recycling in Cambridgeshire and the importance of natural resource conservation. Aimed at call centre help desk staff.

    • Ways to engage children in recycling activities and action, environmental games and paper making for childminders.

    • How Recycling Buses can engage the public and schoolchildren. Designed for local authority staff.
Training can be tailored to your needs and can take the form of practical activities, seminars and presentations. Please contact Nick King for details.
