Compost free fruit and veg for kids and we'll all save our skins!

Schools across Cambridgeshire are keen to compost their free fruit and vegetable peelings.

Cambridgeshire County Council's Recycling Bus and volunteer Master Composter Allan Brocklebank visited St Ann's C of E Primary School in Godmanchester on Monday 18th October to show children the greenest way to recycle their greens!

Pupils will be sampled the delights of the compost heap by watching worms wriggle their way through waste fruit and veg. Help was be on hand with Master Composter volunteer Allan Brocklebank sharing his compost expertise with teachers and pupils alike.

Composting is high on the agenda, as this week is ‘the Big Recycle'. Schools and households are being encouraged to help maintain a healthy environment and healthy eating.

Kim Warren, Recycling Bus Manager said, 'By getting children involved in composting at school, they can learn how healthy eating and a healthy environment are closely linked. If we eat junk food snacks, we will create more waste, harm the environment and be less healthy. The Recycling Bus is a fun way to engage kids in composting activities'
